You have opened this article which means either you are struggling with procrastinating a lot throughout your days or chances are good that you are not satisfied with your daily productivity. I can understand that because I also get into that laziness loop some days.

What happens when we eat a lot of junk food or get drunk more than we are supposed to? We detoxify ourselves for the next few days so that our mind & body starts feeling better & gets back to normal. Detoxification ultimately helps in minimizing the adverse effects of all the harmful things that we take in.

Similar to that, here are 3 ways to detoxify your mind when it is full of wrong thoughts and boost your directional productivity and achieve optimal performance in your important tasks.

1. Start keeping your tools handy

To achieve any task that you have in mind, there are certain tools that you need to have. It’s easy not to read a book when you are lying in your bedroom and the book is on the shelf in the hall of your house. If you want to start a reading habit then the book is your tool and as long as it’s away from your reach you won’t find the motivation to even start the book.

Just like that, it’s not easy to eat healthy when your fridge is filled with soda and fast food. But it’s a lot easier when you have a fridge full of fruits and veggies and you are out of other options.

It’s easy not to work out when you are not in touch with your sports accessories for a long time and have been more in love with your bed.

The whole point is that you need to set up an environment for yourself that will speak to you. An environment that tells you again and again that you’ve got stuff to do and you can’t just avoid that.

If you want to start a reading habit then start keeping those books on your desks or carry one whenever you are commuting. If you want to work out then forcefully register yourself to a gym or wear your sports outfit quite often to get the kick. If you want to study well then keep a copy of your notes on your phone or laptop so that you’ll always have the option to open it and read it at least.

The more supportive you create your environment for yourself the more signs you’ll find to do the things that you are supposed to be doing and that’s how with time and regular efforts you’ll be in a much better position regarding the things you need to achieve for sure.

2. Keeping a healthy diet for your mind

You might have tried eating healthy to stay fit. But, have you heard of keeping a healthy diet for your mind as well? It has nothing to do with food by the way. It’s about the content you consume throughout the day.

The ideas you listen to, the shows or movies that you watch, the people whom you listen to, and the things that you see around you play a vital role in shaping your daily thought process. All these things act like food to your brain because they all go inside your mind & then whatever comes out of your mind is a lot influenced by all these factors.

So, when consuming entertaining content, prefer something that is not too disturbing or avoids something that can simply keep you thinking about it all the time. Preferably it’s better to use the time for Netflix or any other entertainment to be utilized on something funny, light or if possible then educational like documentaries or inspiring biopics.

Of course, I am not trying to tell you what to watch and what not to watch. I am just suggesting that you know yourself better and choose your type of content wisely because you are going to invest a fair share of your time and thoughts in it. Be as picky as possible to figure things out that have the ability to entertain you in a positive way.

3. Start keeping micro targets

When we are not working on anything then it is easier to stay that way and boom, in no time you see the whole day is gone lying on the couch scrolling through your phone.

But, do you know that most of the time we are not able to get up and start working or studying because we see them as something that is going to take too much of our efforts and energy that we do not have at the moment.

You need to trick your brain into doing stuff. Because it’s been so idle the most of the time that it becomes reluctant to move towards work.

The idea is simple, if you tell yourself that you have to study or work on something for at least 3 hours in a day then it would seem like a big deal to your mind. 3 hours is a decent amount of time anyway. Instead of that, if you promise yourself to work/study for at least 20 minutes in the day then that would definitely seem an easily achievable task to your brain.

It’s obvious because it’s easy. 20 minutes isn’t a big commitment so no issues, no laziness, and simply the task would be done. Now once you finish your 20 minutes of work then you will surely gain momentum. That would help you to stick a little longer to it. Now try if you could possibly stick to it for the next 20 minutes as well. That way you might not be able to pull it till 3 hours on your first day but you’ll at least start somewhere.

The key is to try this exercise daily on everything you want to do. The worst it will give you is just 20 minutes of work in a day but that’s still better than doing nothing at all. You want to study, give it 20 minutes, you want to work out then start with 20 minutes of basic exercises with music or you want to work on a big project then start doing something about it for 20 minutes in a day. I don’t know about achievements but growth is assured with this method.

Key Takeaway

Our world has become super competitive now and there is a lot more competition for us than we actually know. But, it’s also a fact that not all our competitors are ahead of us. In fact, if you logically analyze the competition in your field then you’ll find that the majority of people are already finding excuses for not doing what they are supposed to do.

So here is a tiny fact for you. If you are working even the tiniest bit hard then you are already ahead of a lot of your competitors because plenty of them are not even willing to give it as much as you are.

Use the above-mentioned ideas to make things easier and I believe you’d be able to keep up with the required pace in no time. The things that I’ve shared above are supposed to make things a little easier for you which you are already aware of.

You are willing to be better and maybe that’s why you’ve read it this far. Thanks for being so patient and being interested to read my ideas. Your willingness is going to take you places and that’s an assurance from me.
